This is my old bird, Jewel. That plant was one of his many favorite perches and he and the other three birds chilled there for awhile until they flew off somewhere.
Anyways, the technique!! Basically I sketched Jewel and the plant first with pencil, then I went and filled in the proper hues with watercolor, then I painted the background and when it was still wet, I sprinkled a little salt on it to give it a "crystal effect" then lastly I did the outline with India ink...yeah... This is under "Still Life" but he was pretty still while I was paiting this. Meeeehhhhhhhhhhhhh...... This was done YEARS ago. Done in watercolor, india ink, and SALT! |
